Advanced Body Levers - 2014
Comtech Headquarters
Advanced Body Levers is a 3 day seminar presented by Master At Arms James A. Keating

Body Levers are simply "control" points on the human body. These points and understanding their uses will allow you to effortlessly control and manipulate your opponent. This goes far beyond just your average "kick and punch" / "block and strike" type techniques.

Mr. Keating draws from a very broad base of knowledge encompassing various arts and styles, blending them seamlessly into an easy to grasp system that is unique to Combat Technologies.

Some of the arts include TaiChi, Bagwa, Aiki, Wing Chun, Snake and Crane styles of Gung Fu, Kali, Pencak Silat, Goju, Kenpo, and the list goes on and on.
The "grip" is way more than just grabbing someone's arm.
It includes not only "where" you grab but also "how" you grab.

Many arts teach grabbing of the limbs to hold and control. Some arts also include "joint locks" and "submissions"

When you add "vectored force" to a simple grab it becomes more than just a "hold", it becomes a method of control and manipulation which can move and position the opponents whole body.

Add in "body levers" while using your "vectored force grip" and you have a winning combo that gives you effortless power and control.

Keating demonstrated various grips and their uses in conjunction with multiple body levers.
(Glad I took lots of notes)

2 attendees of the seminar were active law enforcement. Both seemed really intrigued with this new found method of controlling and manipulating the human body. Both men use this type of action on a daily basis for handcuffing and restraining individuals. Now they do it even better, in a more efficient manner with less effort. These men understand what "works for real, in the real world".

The body's primary lever is the head and neck. If you can control your opponents head, you have control over his entire body.

We worked "counter for counter" exercises to control the head / neck lever. The "counter for counter" training teaches you not only how to acquire the lever but also how to escape when someone tries to get it on you.

Essential to fully understanding the technique, you must know how to put it on someone and how not to have it put on you.

Control the head and the body will follow!
The guiding principals behind the "Advanced Body Levers" seminar are a series of 8 sets or "Juru's".

Keating refined a mass of techniques into 8 "conceptual" sets that allow the student to practice using not only the levers on the upper body but also on the lower body.

Foot traps and low line body levers round out this method. When upper and lower body levers are combined, the results are amazing and profound.

Effortless power and control over the opponent.

All 8 sets are easily learned and can be worked solo or with a partner.

I'm glad I took really good notes. There was a wealth of knowledge presented in a short 3 day program. More than I can remember at this point, "My cup runneth over!"

I am looking forward to the DVD's set when it comes out.
